Welcome to Day 1 of 30 Days of Hygge!
If you’ve never had hot mulled apple cider with a doughnut, then you are missing out. I first enjoyed this fall treat at the Cold Hollow Cider Mills in Waterbury, VT a couple of years ago (I was a late bloomer, what can I say?) and let me tell you, it is the perfect way to warm up on a cold autumn day!
A typical mulled cider recipe includes cloves, allspice, cinnamon, and orange, along with the apple cider. For the Love of Cooking has a fantastic crockpot mulled cider recipe that you can try for yourself right here.
Pair your mulled cider with some old-fashioned doughnuts (The Spruce has a recipe that’s a lot like the one my grandmother used) and you’ll have the perfect afternoon pick-me-up for mid-autumn.
If you want to make it a truly hygge afternoon, enjoy your treat with a cozy blanket and book, either outside or in, or share the mulled cider with your loved ones.
