Welcome to 30 Days of Hygge, Day 5!
I was an avid reader as a kid. I practically lived at the local library and still go to the same used bookstore I’ve been going to since I was 3 years old (although the owner is now one of my favorite trivia rivals).
So why not take some time out today to re-read one (or more) of your favorite childhood books. Whether that’s a picture book or longer chapter book isn’t important. The important thing is to remember how reading that book for the first time made you feel. The wonder that it sparked in your imagination.
A few of my personal favorites, in case you’re interested:
- Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak
- Heidi by Johanna Spyri
- Blueberries for Sal by Robert McCloskey
- Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder
- The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams
I have dozens of other favorites, but those were five that popped into my head first. I highly recommend reading these in paperback form instead of as ebooks, so head on over to your local library if you don’t have any of your childhood copies handy anymore!
